Alternative electricity generation is the wave of the future and will be very important for providing electricity years to come. Specifically the focus has moved from burning fossil fuels to using renewable energy sources. Burning gas, coal, and petroleum currently produces the vast majority of all electricity generation. Some renewable energy sources include hydropower, solar energy, biomass and wind power. There is a lot of research being applied to renewable energy sources.

The three main reasons to using alternative electricity generation come down to supply and demand and effects on the environment. Fossil fuels do not magically regenerate and will one day run out. This finite resource will also become more expensive as the supply dwindles but the demand remains the same. The majority of all alternative electricity generation focuses on using renewable energy that will not run out one day. Finally all renewable electricity sources are ‘green’ energy and do not pollute the environment.

Electricity has recently been generated from slow moving water. This is a brand new are of research that transforms the vibrations in the water, for example from swimming fish, and turns it into energy, which can be converted to electricity. Over 15 billion individuals could be supplied with electricity of only 0.1% of the oceans currents were accessed for energy production. This method of alternative electricity production can supply electricity for the world but it can certainly supply a large amount of electricity.

Solar power will soon be even more affordable then ever as research at MIT has produced an even more effective solar cell for less money. Researchers have managed to increase effectiveness by 50% and decrease the amount of silicon in the cell. The silicon is what makes cells expensive so in essence you are getting much more for your dollar then ever.

It is quite possible that waste will be turned into an alternative electricity source, as a new waste to energy project will take care of much of the waste disposed. Garbage is a problem to the environment and this is a great renewable options. Municipal trash is burned to produce steam and electricity. This has been know to produce electricity for over 100 years yet it has not been a popular source of electricity. This is a fantastic way to get rid of landfills and produce electricity at the same time.

Burning trash might appear to be an inexpensive approach for alternative energy generation, but the viability of this choice has yet to be determined. The risk of producing toxic fumes or contributing more carbon emissions presently overshadows any benefit to the reduction of municipal landfills.

Wind power and solar energy are the most effective alternative electricity generation methods but some cutting edge technology focuses on harnessing the energy from the change of pH between the soil and trees, cyanobacteria, and more. There are many areas of renewable energy yet to be discovered and it is with hope that world embraces renewable energy production over the consumption of fossil fuels.

Is make a wind turbine the way for everyone to be power self sufficient? Many parts of the world have enough reliable wind to make enough electricity to serve everyones requirements.

Zero point energy was used a hundred years ago to power cars. Now, it has re-emerged as a central part of the search for free energy. This includes three revolutionary technologies: wireless transmission of electricity, free electrostatic energy, and passive electrical propulsion.

Most people recognize that magnets have a field that has power. They have a north and south end which will attract and repel. When the magnets begin attracting and repelling against each other, they will create a motion. Unlike other forms of alternative energy, magnets do not need any input to produce power. Thus, a Magnetic Generator Free Energy is also known as a zero point energy generator.

A zero point magnetic power generator uses magnetic force to encourage continual motion. This motion is called perpetual motion and will generate power without ever stopping. It will generate an unlimited amount of free electric energy that will run infinitely and power your home for the rest of your life, and it can even produce more power than you will actually need. For these reasons, using a magnetic generator is definitely beneficial in that it can cut your power bill completely out and help you save a lot of money. In some cases, the electrical company will even end up paying you for the extra power it creates.

Other benefits of a magnetic generator are that it takes up very little space and it can be used in any type of climate because it does not depend on any external weather.

But perhaps the best benefit of a magnetic generator is that it won?t harm the environment. Being a one hundred percent clean form of energy, it is very eco-friendly. A magnetic generator free energy will not only save us on finances; it will also save the planet in which we live.

by Daniel Sturridge

New research that may see people paying more attention to the quality of the air breathed in has recently been published via the ‘The New England Journal of Medicine’.

The research showed that long-term exposure to ground level ozone gases substantially raises the risk of dying from respiratory complications. The risk is more than 30% larger in the metro areas with the highest levels of ozone gases when compared to those locations where concentrations were lowest.

It followed 450,000 subjects in 96 metropolitan regions over an 18-year period. During this time, Riverside California had the highest daily average concentrations, whilst, at the other end of the scale, the lowest were recorded in San Francisco.

Most often, cities towards the north-east of America had lesser concentrations than states in the west like California – Los Angeles was shown to have a 43% greater risk, while New York came in at 25% and Washington D.C. at 27%.

A good way to lower the risk is to your outdoors jobs and chores during the morning, or in the late afternoon in order to be out of the way for the sunniest, hottest part of the day, particularly if you live in one of the warmer climates. Keeping your windows unopened when ozone levels are highest is also advised.

On the whole, keep yourself aware of your environment. Seriously consider limiting your exposure to something that experts are increasingly finding to be dangerous. This study isn’t conclusive on itself but it gives a pretty clear indication that danger surrounds us.

If you, or your family or friends, suffer from breathing problems, you should keep an eye on the levels of ozone gases in the area in which they or you live. Though it may seem drastic to relocate to somewhere else, it could literally result in prolonging their or your life by a few years.

by Sam Reynolds

There’s a lot more news about alternative energies recently. Different people have different ideas about just what it is. They also have different ideas about how long alternative energy has been around. I wrote this article to give my perspective on

One way to approach a definition of alternative energy is to consider what “regular” energy is. Ever since the mid 19th century, fossil fuels such as coal and oil have provided an increasing proportion of our energy needs. Fossil fuels have become the energy standard against which other forms of energy are considered alternative.

This wasn’t always the case. In the not too distant past, sailing ships and animals powered transportation.

A windmill by a ranch house is an icon of the American west because thousands of windmills were used to provide power to pump water before electricity was available.

Early in the 20th century nearly 1/3rd of homes in Florida used solar hot water. The availability of cheap electricity in the 1940’s changed that. At one point electric companies were even giving away hot water heaters to encourage consumption.

As you consider the above and similar facts I think you can see that the dominance of fossil fuels has been very brief and very recent. As it becomes harder and more expensive to meet our energy needs with fossil fuel, we need to return to other sources.

Having said all that, let me give you my current definition of alternative energy: energy that comes from a source other than fossil fuels

We should make a distinction between alternative energy and renewable energy. People tend to assume that they’re one and the same but they aren’t. Some non-fossil fuel energy sources can be depleted.

Most sources of alternative energy have less environmental impact and burning fossil fuel. And most are renewable, meaning we don’t have to worry about running out of them. These considerations have led to the increased interest in exploring alternative energy today

Although most people think about solar panels and windmills when they think about alternative energy, the field is really much broader than that. it’s very exciting to see all the research being done in areas such as biomass, tidal power, geothermal, solar chimneys and so forth.

In the not too distant future we can expect that these forms of energy will no longer be “alternative” but instead be our dominate sources.

Upgrade your thermostat

Programmable thermostats are one of the easiest and cheapest ways to save money. Have one installed and program it to cool or heat the house 30 to 60 minutes before the first family member wakes up. During the day, set the unit 7 or 8 degrees higher or lower than you normally do and have it set to heat/heat the house right before you get home.

Check for leaks.

Check for windows and air duct leaks intermittently through which cold or warm air can escape. Leaks force your air conditioner or heater to work harder which translates into higher energy costs. Having your house correctly insulated means you’re able to save as much as 10% on your power bills.

Unplug appliances.

Did you know any appliance that is plugged in is using energy even if the appliance is turned off? Appliances that also have clocks are an additional drain. Standby lights, like those on your TV, are also draining energy, so unplug as many appliances as you can when not in use.

New light bulb technology.

Compact fluorescent light bulbs need 75% less energy and last 10 times lengthier compared to standard incandescent light bulbs. While compact fluorescents do cost more up front, they savings they supply long term are worth the first investment. You may also be saving time and making less waste by changing your light bulbs more infrequently.

Shop “green.”

Look for the Energy Star label when shopping for new appliances. Energy Star is a joint program between the US EPA and Department of Energy that identifies and labels energy-efficient appliances. Currently appliances in 44 products categories have been identified and labeled.

Just like a number of others, I am convinced that you are taken aback too with the stunning expenses which we need to cover monthly given our energy consumption ” particularly our electricity bills. With the tough times, this leaves us though with no other choice than to search for means on how we can get energy saving. Youll be happy to know though that there are steps that are simple which we can observe to attain this particular goal. These are the things which I will be sharing with you in this article.

It is common for us to forget to notice simple ways that when accumulated will count big. Take for example in the room where you are at this very moment. Say you need to step out to get something or perhaps to eat dinner downstairs with your family; do you actually make it a point to turn off appliances before you leave the room? This is a classic example of a very simple measure which we can observe but certainly will contribute a lot when it comes to energy saving.

A good way of reducing bills is to convert your incandescent bulbs to one which are made of compact fluorescent light. This bulbs are very inexpensive and you will be surprised with the amount of energy saving they are able to generate.

A power saver gadget is yet one of those things which you must have. This gadget helps you control the amount of electricity which is consumed in household. It monitors and regulates it to make sure that the minimum required is actually what is being utilized.

As for appliances, there are in fact a few measures which you can take to wisely make use of them. Take for example the washing machine. Make sure that you load it well with clothes when it is used. This makes sure that you maximize its utilization. Your air-conditioning unit on the other hand can be controlled in terms of thermostat and it also comes with the timer. This allows you to keep the room cool enough for a number of hours. As for everything else, make sure that they are unplugged and turned off when not in use.

Another innovative and efficient means of cutting down your electricity bill is to make use of alternative means of energy. This is where wind and solar power can actually be used as sources of electricity to power your household. When you have enough energy in fact, you can even eliminate those expensive monthly bills.

Wind and solar power are renewable forms of energy. These energies come from the sun and the wind. Since this is so, sourcing of this form of energy is absolutely free. The only expense which needs to be shouldered is the setting up of the system which can be done by yourself and will happen only one time.

Certainly, wind and solar power poses as very cost-effective means of generating energy. Not only does it provide savings on our end, but it also helps protect our environment.

by Andrew Goodman

Global warming, or more accurately man-made global warming is the single biggest moral and political issue of our age. The western governments have bought into the notion that carbon dioxide produced by mans industrial activities is causing a rise in the temperature of the planet, that this temperature rise must be stopped to avoid global catastrophe. But what substantiating evidence exists to back up this claim?

The global warming bandwagon has gathered such momentum that is it becoming nearly impossible to have a balanced discussion on the topic. A large and extremely powerful business sector has sprung up out of nowhere to serve the ‘problem’, and it will not take kindly to being told that it is surplus to requirements.

In addition, significant policy changes have been taking place to adopt the notion of man made global warming, the government taking the view that the evidence of the link is ‘irrefutable’. A bold move indeed. These policies will influence social and fiscal policymaking and will be around many years to come, even as the ‘truth’ of the matter comes to light.

Manufacturers everywhere are required to use CO2 emissions as a yardstick for anything from fridge freezer design to measuring how environmentally friendly business activities are, indeed these companies even have the option to offset their carbon production by paying a company to go and plant trees somewhere else in the world. While everyone in the world seems to be asking how or what we can do to reduce CO2 emissions, isn’t it time we asked the question why? Is CO2 an issue in the first place, or is it just a lot of hot air?

Picture of Cooling Tower by Matt Foster

While it may appear that the facts of man made global warming remain undisputed, you may be surprised to read that in a survey carried out in 2003, in which all 530 of the world’s climatologists were questioned whether they thought that the ’scientific debate about climate change is over’, 44% were in agreement, 10% remained uncertain, and the majority, 46% disagreed. It seems the majority believe there’s still something to discuss.[1]

Even so, in popular society, the climate change denier is very much like a small boy whistling in the dark. He has neither the support of the UK press, nor those who rely on it for their opinions. Is it possible that the global warming bandwagon has gathered such momentum that to deny that global warming is an issue (let alone man’s work) is tantamount to global treason?

What is true is that there are millions of people employed in the field globally, who have a vested interest in the maintenance of the status quo; and if global warming became a non-issue overnight, many of these people would be out of work.

I don’t think that true evidence will ever be found to prove or disprove the issue. As the split in opinion of climatologists demonstrates, climate is a highly complex science, and unlikely to be definitively understood by man any time soon, if ever.

Like most economic bubbles, it is almost always easier to go with the flow than to struggle against the current and risk being sucked under. The issue of CO2 and global warming is founded on the precautionary principle, and if we had to put words to it, it would look something like this:

“If carbon dioxide is warming up the planet, and man is responsible for it, and if we can reduce our CO2 emissions, and persuade every other country globally to follow our lead, then things might not be as bad as they would have been, had we not taken any action.”

Does this sound like well balanced judgement, good clear thinking, or scaremongering of the first degree? There are as many ‘IF’ statements, as many unknowns, as a climate model. The majority of these are speculation. People who take action from a place of fear will never produce good results. Furthermore, consider the expenditure allocated for this speculative case, and where it might be better spent.

But what if we are screwing up the planet? Surely you can’t put a cost on saving the earth? I mean, we do only have one planet, and once it’s gone, we’re stuffed! I’m sure many a UK citizen would agree with that, but what about the rest of the world, who perhaps don’t have the spare cash to be spending on luxuries, or perhaps who haven’t bought into the same beliefs as we have? Economies of China, India and Africa want to industrialise, and they will need lots of cheap energy in the form of Oil Gas an Coal. Carbon dioxide emissions is not an issue that ever crosses their minds.

I suspect that to convince China, India, and Africa to reduce their CO2 emissions will be met with raised eyebrows. They really don’t share our concern. China is just coming into its economic stride, likewise the Indian subcontinent, and people there want to have the goods and services that we in the West have enjoyed for many years. Are we going to tell these countries that they shouldn’t use cheap energy to kick start their industrial machines “just in case carbon dioxide causes global warming”?

The UK can decide individually what it wants to do regarding CO2, but it cannot force anyone else to join it on its righteous quest to save the planet. If the UK decides to forge ahead with these carbon reforms, even though no definitive evidence exists (or will ever exist), then John Q. Taxpayer will have to pay this conscience tax. The revenue will be collected by governments in tax collecting schemes, and redistributed to organisations that work within the CO2 economy.

If this happens, we in the UK will certainly have this additional cost added to our products and services, making them less competitive than products from countries which have no such concerns about carbon. It is more likely that shrewd businessmen, who ultimately answer to the bottom line, will just move their production elsewhere. This avoids the issue, but does nothing to combat the perceived threat of carbon emissions. While we may have an up-and-coming business sector in carbon management, I doubt we will be doing any business with the Chinese in this regard.

The politicians realise that they have to be seen to be doing something, they also realise that there is a very real opportunity to create jobs out of nowhere, so they push the issue forward. It is also highly popular and gets them votes, so they pursue it given the ‘facts’, or lack thereof. In the current economic climate it has never been clearer that economic growth, consumption and environmentally friendly policies do not necessarily go hand in hand; Economic growth means production, motion, consumption, all of which means energy usage, which means carbon dioxide emissions, which are apparently destroying the planet.

Grangemouth Refinery, by Scottog

I am not going to join in the global debate of what statistics might have been gathered to demonstrate one thing or another, there are enough reports and programmes for you to watch and make up your own minds (see below). Rather, I will try to take a slightly more philosophical, happy view of the situation to try and put things into perspective. I have never been a great believer of statistics; human beings have far more say in their lives than a collection of numbers, however well these might have been gathered, collected and analysed. What I find vexing is the very premise of the argument, which is fundamentally flawed.

If you stand back and ask the question, why are we here? I know this sounds barmy but bear with me here, folks. What gets you out of bed in the morning? What is it that you enjoy about life? What is it that you enjoy about being alive here on this planet? Life is in a constant state of evolution, (yes evolution is still happening, were not done yet!) and we human beings are evolving just like all of the other life forms around us. We are creating new wonderful technologies to make our lives better. We are running faster, jumping higher, we are expanding our knowledge, we are improving our techniques for living, and we are having fun creating things that have not been before.

This expansion is eternal, and will never cease to be. So if this joy of expansion is at the basis of life, then we aren’t exactly going to down tools and accept that we’ve got the job done, and that its time to stop creating, that everything is as good as it ever will be, and we can go home now. Its a completely absurd idea. We will be constantly making more, creating new things and finding better ways of living life (including ways of living more in harmony with our wonderful resource-full planet).

The debate on CO2 is a reflection of man’s creative efforts. It’s all good really, but it is based on a false premise; that man is responsible for the planet. Actually, this planet was created as a stable solid platform for man to create upon. It’s fair to say that there are forces outside of our creative control dealing with stuff like that. Let them get on with it. It’s no surprise that people feel overwhelmed when they consider how they will save the planet; it’s not their job.

I do like the new technologies that will come out of the CO2 debate, however. Wars over oil, rising fuel prices caused by perceived shortages, pollution and a call for greener living, all contribute to the development and creation of new alternative technologies. These are more peaceful, cheaper, cleaner and more in keeping with the planet. Even so, our best efforts cannot destroy the earth, no matter how hard we try. It is a very large and stable rock that finds its own equilibrium, regardless of our activities.

Just consider for a moment how this planet spins in its orbit in perfect proximity to other planets. Consider how the sun rises every day, consider that there is an abundant clean water supply, and the air purifies itself. Consider that food grows on the planet year after year after year. We have an abundance of everything that we need from Mother Nature, more than enough for everyone on the planet. Yes, I believe that we will find more harmonious ways to live on this planet. But we shouldn’t curse the wonderful resources provided by Mother Earth for the benefit of mankind.

Many people are starting to ask questions of the carbon crowd. Where is this global warming you all predicted? The planet seems to be fine, what’s all the fuss about? Time will tell, of course, but for now the global warming budget is healthy and ready to be snapped up by eager enviro-capitalists who all want a slice of the pie. There are still those, however who staunchly disagree with the notion, so much so that they are prepared to forego the sweetness of the environmental honeypot. In March this year, the 2009 Conference on Climate Change was held in New York, and gathered together interested parties to discuss the agenda ‘Global warming, was it ever an issue’. Some are discussing the global warming issue in the past tense.

George Bush Jr, ex-president of the USA resisted Kyoto and all of its unrealistic targets for as long as he could. You might say he was doing it for the US people, whose lives depend on infrastructure which relies heavily on oil. You might also consider that the Bush family have large interests in oil prospecting in Texas. At a time when the oil price was extremely healthy indeed, (1986, the average world price of oil was a measly $12.51), who can blame him. Meanwhile environmental crusader Albert Gore Jr, would-be-almost-ex-president made a movie about Global Warming called “An Inconvenient Truth”, which conveniently netted him $49m at movie theatres worldwide.

I suspect, had he titled his film, “Global Warming, it might not be a problem”, he wouldn’t have motivated quite so many people into the movie theatres. Al Gore is, unsurprisingly, himself involved in a number of organisations which cater to the global warming business. One might consider his movie and book about global warming as a highly profitable sales pitch for his businesses.

I say this not as a criticism to either Gore or Bush. They are behaving perfectly normally, and acting out of their own self interest. You may regard the most powerful man in the world as having to deal with everyone else’s interests too, but actually, he’s only dealing with his own, as that is as far as his power extends. Everything is ultimately about economics. Power, religion, jobs, politics, it is all about economics. What is in it for me? They all ask. Economics comes out top because it is about the individual thriving, and when you can see the world this way, it starts to make more sense.

“The Great Global Warming Swindle”, a polemic documentary by Martin Durkin in 2007, was decidedly against the established view, and added some well needed balance to the debate. The program contained views from a number of respected scientists and climatologists who disagree with the premise that man’s activities are warming up the planet. They argue instead that as the temperature of the planet rises, atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations rise. The CO2 follows the temperature rise, and not the other way round.

I expect in the years to come that some balance will be restored to the debate. It is currently extremely one sided, as those who report it, stand to gain from its continuation, and those who believe all is well have less air-time. Unfortunately a huge quantity of legislation is being produced which will be around for some time to come. Not all of this is bad however, and the majority of it is in line with the population’s desire to coexist happily with our planet.

I’m sure we will continue to find better ways of doing things. I suspect that in the near future we will all find something else to focus upon, and the issue carbon management and global warming will fade away and be forgotten about as people regain their faith in life, and in the resilience of planet earth. We’re in good hands folks.

The new term Geo-Engineering is an interesting idea. Engineers believe that they have to act to do something about the global temperature rise. Some ideas touted have been, giant sailing ships spraying clouds of water vapour into the atmosphere, seeding the oceans with iron to promote algal blooms which trap CO2 and then sink to the ocean floor, and my personal favourite, the giant sun shades in space to reflect back the sun. I wouldn’t want to live under one of those.

But seriously, the good news is, that the planet is fine. In fact it is evolving like all of the species that are living and thriving upon it. It was spinning quite merrily in its orbit for billions of years before man turned up, and it will be spinning quite happily in many billennia to come. Man’s activities, however serious they might appear, are about as significant to this planet as a very small flea on the back of a very big dog.

Greenhouse Gas tracking will soon become mandatory in the United States, with the first reports due in early 2011 for the 2010 year. The federal law affects businesses and governments with heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems or refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, as well as those who produce industrial chemicals, fossil fuels, cars and engines. It is the responsibility of companies to review and comply with the new EPA regulations or face substantial fines.

The US Clean Air Act aims to improve air quality and lower greenhouse gas emissions. Within this aim, the Climate Registry Protocol covers greenhouse gas tracking and outlines the need for mandatory monitoring.

A big part of the greenhouse gas tracking requirement is its focus on the refrigerant gases used in refrigeration and cooling systems at a wide variety of facilities. This list includes but is not limited to food processors, grocery stores, office buildings, hospital buildings, retailers and local government facilities. It is known that refrigerant gases include significant levels of carbon in the form of perfluorocarbons, chlorofluorocarbons and hydrochlorofluorocarbons. These compounds have been regulated under the US Clean Air Act for some years.

It is accepted that greenhouse gases absorb and release radiation into the atmosphere which is a significant contributory factor to the global warming effect. Greenhouse gas tracking will help to pinpoint the main origin of these greenhouse gases and monitor the amount which is discharged. Environmental officials have a baseline of information against which to measure future usage. Accurate and timely information will help determine if the guidelines are effective in lowering the effects of these substances on the ozone layer.

Greenhouse gas tracking helps to measure both direct and indirect emissions and to keep extensive records on maintenance, leaks and disposal. Heating and cooling systems and other energy consumptions are defined as producing direct emissions.

Greenhouse Gas tracking was among the major goals of the Obama administration as the United States aims to protect the future of the environment by reducing the carbon footprint of today. By taking no action, the earth’s makeup would significantly change, with humans and animals adversely affected and marine and plant life severely damaged.

Greenhouse gas tracking is to become law because it has been determined that certain man-made compounds materially contribute to global warming. Those substances are carbon dioxide, chlorine, bromine, nitrous oxide, chlorofluorocarbons, hydrofluorocarbons, methyl chloroform, sulfur hexafluoride, halons, carbon tetrachloride and the fluorinated gases hydroflorenated ethers and nitrogen trifluoride.

Although greenhouse gas tracking was once optional it now becomes mandatory, and from 2010 the regulation requires companies and municipalities to provide exact information on how much of the global warming substances they use and if any leaks occur. Software applications have been developed, with web based applications available to assist companies in complying with this law.

Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) was conceived of by the French engineer Jacques D’Arsonval in 1881. Too date, only one plant is employed anywhere in the world to pursue this goal and that is located at a laboratory in Hawaii. OTEC is a potential alternative energy source that needs to be funded and explored much more than it presently is but it is the expense that is the greatest problem. Energy from the ocean would be very clean burning and not add pollutants into the air but reducing costs is the main problem. Damages and other disturbing effects to our atmosphere brought about by the current technologies used is not something that OTEC plants can get rid of since they would need to be set up using those environmental issues, giving them the capacity to inflict same damage.

Three types of Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion exist:

Propane which is an example of a low-boiling point liquid is what the “Closed Cycle OTEC” uses to act as an intermediate fluid. Warm sea water is pumped into the Ocean Thermal Energy Plants reaction chamber which heats up the gas (propane) to the point where it turns into a liquid. rotates large turbines. Cold sea water then reverses the process, reducing the temperature of the liquid, turning it back into a gas.

It is already taken that intermediate fluid is used in closed cycling and even though there is no such thing involved in the Open Cycle, still, “Open Cycle Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion” isn’t that poles apart from closed cycling. In this kind of OTEC format, the main driver of the engine’s turbine is the sea water itself. Warm surface water is converted into a low pressure vapor by in a vacuum. The low-pressure vapor is released in a focused area and it has the power to drive the turbine. The benefit of this system is that once the water has been used and electricity generated, salt is removed (as part of the process), then it is pumped to much lower depths where it cools down ready to be used as drinking water.

At the moment, the “Hybrid Cycle Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion” still remains just a theory. Bringing about the notion that we could make maximum usage of the ocean waters’ thermal energy is just the main purpose of the theory. Two sub-theories are actually contained in the theory of Hybrid Cycling. The first involves using a closed cycling to generate electricity which is, in turn, used to create the vacuum environment needed for open cycling. Using just one open cycle is not enough to create a massive amount of desalinated, potable water so the second component seeks to integrate two open cyclings that can produce twice as much as with just one.

In addition to being used for producing electricity, a closed cycle OTEC plant can be utilized for treating chemicals. Both the open cycling and close cycling kinds of the Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion plants can also be used to pump up cold deep sea water which can be utilized for refrigeration and air conditioning. The water around the plants during the process can also be used to help promote fish farming projects as well. This is a energy source that even after all this time is only just starting to be taken seriously and investigate and it is obvious that many benefits can be derived from the oceans this way.

Biodiesel, as an alternative fuel, has a number of benefits, but one of the biggest benefits is that that anyone can make Biodiesel at home. Let us imagine: Being able to produce your own fuel for your car or even power your entire home with the energy you created in your garage? That would translate into quite a lot of savings for you.

It can be quite easy when it comes to making Biodiesel. If you can, it is a great idea to get involved in making your own Biodiesel because you get to save more money when you use Biodiesel that is made from your home.

Looking at the Supplies to Making Biodiesel

Producing a small amount Biodiesel at home entails minimal requirements Actual ingredients are needed to produce a Biodiesel product alcohol, lye and vegetable oil substance. You have to prepare some supplies as inputs for mixing the fuel: empty plastic bottles, duct tape, a mixer and measuring cups. Be sure anything used for Biodiesel production is exclusively for that purpose and avoid using again for your cooking ingredients.

When supplies are ready, you are ready for your journey in learning on how to produce Biodiesel

Hazard Free Procedure

Making Biodiesel is a not hazardous. There is little risk for fire or explosion as you may expect with fuel. In fact, the only major area of concern, as far as safety, getting hurt due to flames. Make the temperature in your mixing procedure tolerable.

You will have a walk through on the do-it-yourself way of making a Biodiesel which requires combining the inputs, letting it to settle, breaking up the byproduct and Biodiesel and then cleaning the Biodiesel. The entire proccess can last for just a few days or it may take a few weeks. That depends on the extent of cleanliness of your vegetable oil.

Small or Large Scale

Yields in Biodiesel production can be small scale or large scale. Biodiesel kits are great if you want to make a few gallons of Biodiesel at a time. If you regularly use your lawnmower or similar equipments then A Biodiesel kit makes sense. It is not difficult to use and will entail minimal inputs.

If your mindset is to produce more Biodiesel for the instance for running your automobile, you have to operate a Biodiesel processor. This makes the process super simple, so you can make more than a few gallons at a time. With a processor you will need some more supplies but you also spend lesser time in Biodiesel production since the processor can automate some tasks.

Like Biodiesel? You see this a pretty popular fuel and you can find it in many of the gas stations. The best thing is that you can have homemade biodieselwhere you can produce it at your own garage.
