In a recent press release, Sanyo revealed that its newest incarnation of the HIT solar panel the HIT-N230 has an increased efficiency level of 20.7%. This is a significant increase, to panels that were already extremely efficient.
The increase in efficiency has been achieved by using thinner tabbing between cells and increasing the number of tabs to three (previously the number of tabs was two). Also responsible for the increase in efficiency level is the fact the glass used now captures and holds on to more light then previously, leading to more optimal performance due to the lessening of loss of light to reflection and dispersion.
This is an extemly positive step forward in increasing efficiency of solar panels and other companies are set to follow suit.
